October There is only one place Kendra Donovan wants to travel—back to her own time period in the twenty-first century. Their journey takes them through Yorkshire, a region whose breathtaking beauty masks a simmering violence brought on by the Industrial Revolution, which pits mill owner against worker. When Kendra and the Duke encounter a band of Luddites on a lonely, fog-shrouded road, the Duke informs the authorities in the nearby village of East Dingleford that mischief may have been done at the local mill.
Stone, is found brutally bludgeoned to death in his office.
Pop culture addicts' view of the world of entertainment, TV and movies!!!
The Constable is certain the radical-minded Luddites committed the murder. One look at the crime scene and Kendra knows they did not, prompting the Duke to shock the locals by volunteering their services to catch the real killer. Ok, that was way longer than I thought it was going to be. Anything catch your eye? There are a couple I will be picking up for sure, and a couple more that I might get to one day, if I am lucky. This would usually be the point where I would whine about trying to keep track of last-minute new releases, but I am going to let that one go for now.
My latest run-through of Amazon and Goodreads did lead to a few titles that I had let slip through the cracks and a few new-to-me ones, too …. Sorry for the hit-and-run posting lately, but I am in the middle of a monster stretch of long, long work days. But, since it has been almost three weeks since my last reading wrap up post, I thought we could take a look at what we all have been indulging in lately. I did devour Big Jack from J.
Robb , which is a novella from the In Death series. It was a fun read, and it really made me toy with the idea of picking up the Nora Roberts story that it is connected to. At this many stories in, it was more than time.
I am only getting a few minutes here and there to read, so I am having a hard time getting into the flow of things. Like there is this dude, Nian, who is now part of the Nightfuries, and I have absolutely no recollection of him. I am so going to have to start doing refresher reads. That wraps me up, sadly. What have you been reading recently?
Anything exciting? It seems like forever since Coreene Callahan released a Dragonfire book, but that wait ended today. Fury of Surrender is the 6th story in the series, and it is my pick of the week. Dragon warrior Forge has been sentenced to death by the Dragonkind elite. Fiercely determined to protect his pack and his newborn son, Forge agrees to undergo harrowing treatments to help him remember the trauma buried deep inside his heart and mind. When nothing works, a woman of unprecedented power is brought in to help. Young, bright, and haunted by her own demons, hypnotherapist Hope Cunningham helps patients recover from their darkest memories.
Unwittingly, he has put Hope in the middle of a dangerous war, one that could shatter their eternal bond. Will the curative power of love be enough to save them? Will you be checking this one out? It has been a while since I have gotten my hands on a good dragon shifter story, so that will be nice for a change. Yep, this is coming way late, but it is time to take a look ahead and see what is heading our way for July. There are a couple I am looking forward to, and one big, big release, but other than that it will be a catch-up month. Yeah, so I am just going to go ahead and say that it is a pretty sure thing that Wildfire will be the monster winner.
At this point, it might be smarter to ask what other book are you looking forward to. My second favorite would have to be Fury of Surrender from Coreene Callahan — it feels like forever since there has been a new book from the Dragonfury series. There were a few uploaded here and there, but nothing that grabbed my attention. So, here is a bit of a sampling of what I have found for the last few weeks. Deborah Hunter recently started up a new series called Nava Katz, and the second book will be released on June 26th.
After a bumpy start as the only female demon hunter in the top secret Brotherhood of David, Nava Katz heads to Prague for her first undercover mission: unmasking a demon movie star. Did you know that there is an Innkeeper Chronicles collection coming from Ilona Andrews? It is a limited hardcover edition featuring all three of the first Innkeeper stories, and it will be released on May 31st.
In Clean Sweep, Dina—with the unwanted assistance of newcomer and alpha werewolf Sean Evans and Arland, a cosmic vampire soldier—takes on an extraterrestrial killing machine that could destroy her Inn, her neighbors, and everything she holds dear. Sweep in Peace, finds Dina hosting an anything-but peace summit between three warring intergalactic species; Space Vampires, the Hope-Crushing Horde, and the devious Merchants of Baha-char. Angel Crawford has finally pulled herself together literally!
Too bad the future is a nasty bitch. Good thing, since the fate of the world is resting on her undead shoulders. Holly Black will start a new young adult fantasy series next year called The Folk of the Air. The first book is called The Cruel Prince , and it will be released on January 2nd. Of course I want to be like them. They will live forever. And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest.
I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe. Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality.
But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King. To win a place at the Court, she must defy him—and face the consequences. In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed.
But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
Another young adult fantasy book heading our way is Ever the Brave from Erin Summerill. It is the second book of her Clash of Kingdoms series, and it is due out on December 5th.
Eternal Warrior - Wikipedia
After saving King Aodren with her newfound Channeler powers, Britta only wants to live a peaceful life in her childhood home. If Britta cannot find a way to harness her new magical ability, her life—as well as her country—may be lost. The stakes are higher than ever in the sequel to Ever the Hunted, as Britta struggles to protect her kingdom and her heart.
And guess what? This is another young adult fantasy cover, this time from author Morgan Rhodes. Immortal Reign is the 6th book in her Falling Kingdoms series, and it has a release date of December 12th. Jonas continues to willfully defy his destiny, but the consequences of plotting his own course are drastic. Amara is called back home to Kraeshia. She promises Amara power, revenge, and dominance if she agrees to be part of her scheme.
Dark magic is causing widespread destruction throughout the kingdom. Enemies across the sea are advancing. And unrest is stirring throughout the land. Is their love strong enough to withstand the outside forces tearing them apart?

This next one is from Bec McMaster. Ava McLaren is tired of being both a virgin, and a mere laboratory assistant for the Company of Rogues. When a baffling mystery rears its head, it presents her with the opportunity to work a real case… and perhaps get a taste of the passion that eludes her. Blue bloods are dying from a mysterious disease, which should be impossible. Kincaid thinks the only good blue blood is a dead one. But when an attempt on her life proves that Ava might be onto something, the only one who can protect her is Kincaid.
Suddenly the greatest risk is not to their hearts, but whether they can survive a diabolical plot that threatens to destroy every blue blood in London—including Ava. I had honestly figured this series was dead, but then Coreene Callahan released the cover art for her 6th Dragonfury series, Fury of Surrender.
